For those interested in an audio based discussion of this post, John Heilemann host of Showtime's "The Circus" led a discussion this week at the Hell & Highwater podcast and I had the chance to discuss the topic a little more in depth. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/clint-watts/id1529346075?i=1000513203459

Followed you in the past and have appreciated your analytic skills. Was intrigued by the interview on podcast Hell and Highwater. I was in Park City the weekend of the attack at Charlottesville where I have academic ties. I could not believe what I was witnessing and stayed up most the night. Having organized against white supremacists in Texas in the 90s, I have been familiar with hate groups, but the sort who resents having their privilege disturbed. This seems to be much more ideologically based, and organized. I appreciate your XY analysis and look forward to studying your projection for summer. Just had Messing delivered yesterday and will be my weekend dive. Looking forward to your podcast soon.

Thank you for your work.

Looking forward to reading and understanding this domestic terrorism. I read this morning that the Three Percenters has dissolved their organization. They claim that their organization does not condone what happened at the Capitol and disavow the violence. How much do you know about this? Thanks. https://thethreepercenters.org/2021/02/ttpos-final-statement/21/

Just wrapping up your book, Clint, you're doing great work and I appreciate the exploratory independent nature of your work unfettered by the institutional hands that fund and direct so much of this type of inquiry.

Listened to you on John Heilemann's podcast and was very interested in what you had to say about the extremism landscape, social media and the threats we face. Had to subscribe to your newsletter. Looking forward to more insights and a greater discussion on how we can work to create a better future. Side note, have you read the book The Social Organism? If so, I would be interested in your thoughts on their approach to thinking about why censorship is such a spark for debate for people on social media?

Thanks for such insight, and really enjoyed the pod too. It’s so crazy that these groups are whirling dervishes speeding up and slowing down all around us. I think your predicted progression of violence targeting minorities and women has just been proven fact with the Atlanta shooter. Looking forward to learning more from your wisdom.
